To advance contractor productivity and quality construction through education and technology,
and to recruit a diverse construction workforce.

Through a partnership between The Builders’ Association, the Greater Kansas City Building Trades, the Full Employment Council, and the U.S. Department of Labor, your association will host a three-week Construction Mentoring Program (CMP) running from August 13th through August 31st 2018. The program makes use of the Department of Labor’s Women in Apprenticeship and Nontraditional Occupations (WANTO) grant created to help expand pathways for women to enter in, and lead in, all industries. Participants will receive instruction in construction math, blueprint reading, communication, conflict resolution, interviewing, as well as exposure to hands-on demonstrations with the glaziers, cement masons, bricklayers, painters, ironworkers, carpenters, and roofers. In addition to learning how to enter these trades while receiving a $50/week stipend, participants will earn three certifications including First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, and OSHA Powered Industrial Trucks-Forklift. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive one-on-one assistance in applying to the various apprenticeship programs.
